About Acland Voices

Acland Voices is the love child of musicians Clancye Milne and William Whittingham. The pair dreamed of merging their love of music with a desire to connect with local community, and so Acland Voices was born.

Since the ensemble's launch in the Spring of 2025, the duo have been overwhelmed by the talent of the vocalists it has drawn but most importantly the instant sense of encouragement, connection and inclusion that the founding members created.

Acland Voices runs weekly on Thursdays from 7:30-9:00pm at The Melbourne Actors Guild, in St Kilda.

We explore a wide range of pop repertoire, eg Bon Iver, Coldplay, Tina Turner, Lior, and Meg Washington.

All skill levels are welcome. We provide sheet music for those who wish to read, but this is not a requirement. We work through each part to the need of the group. No one is singled out, but each and every voice is appreciated and valued.

Find Your Village

One of the main instigators for starting this choir, was to meet and create a welcoming and encouraging community of like minded individuals. In such a busy world, we wanted to provide a creative space to honour music and art; to come together, to breath together and create something beautiful in real life and in real time.

Benefits of Singing

Singing offers a multitude of benefits that go beyond making music. It's great for your body, enhancing your and developing your breathing techniques. Not only does it support memory and focus, but it also helps reduce stress and anxiety while boosting your mood. Additionally the social connections formed through group singing lessen loneliness and foster a sense of togetherness, as we all work towards the beautiful goal of music!

Hone your Skills

At Acland Voices we meet each person at their own level of comfort and readiness. We have a mix of beginners who are giving it a go, others with the formal training of a singing degree and also some who are professional singers in the performance industry.

We aim to create opportunities for every singer in our group. No matter their current level, we provide support and encouragement for members to thrive, meet new challenges and simply enjoy our community as we sing with joy together.

Meet the Team

Clancye and Will love to share their passion for music with Acland Voices.

Musical Director

Clancye Milne

Clancye Milne is a highly trained jazz and folk singer and composer. She has performed at The Melbourne Recital Centre, Hammer Hall, Sidney Myer Music Bowl and regularly performs at The Paris Cat in a number of ensembles and is a highly sought after arranger and songwriter.

Clancye is a passionate teacher and has extensive experience working with community choirs, individual vocal tuition from primary students to tertiary institutions.

She is a nurturing and encouraging person, who will lift you up and find joy in song with you.

Guitarist

William Whittingham

Will Whittingham has studied both classical and jazz guitar in London and Melbourne. With his highly trained and unique breadth of study, Will blends classical precision and tone with the creativity and innovation of jazz music.

He has performed on feature length films, performed across a range of iconic Melbourne venues and has worked as a session musician, most notably with Meryl Bainbridge.

Will's gentle and empathetic nature, paired with his incredible musical skills make him a sensitive and expressive accompanist to Acland Voices.
